Building and Area Protection

It is not easy to comply with the different building and perimeter protection requirements. Simple cases are abound, however there might be instances that need a radical approach. In these cases functionality is only one side of the matter, the other is the difficulties that could arise during the installation of system. One customer might need security surveillance for the inside and outside of an architecturally endangered monument where installation options are greatly limited.

Such was the case with the Corvinus University in Budapest where management strictly forbade the application of any technology that could restrict the free flow of human traffic in and out of the building. This includes the approximately 18 thousand students of the institution, guest of an underground cafeteria as well as people attending any ad-hoc conferences or public lectures. A solution was to be found, which was not only free of obstructive elements, but also complied with the requirements, and would serve its most important task: protecting valuable assets of both the building and the people inside. Since the building enjoyed architectural protection installing new cables was out of the question. A system was needed that could either operate wirelessly or could utilize the cables already present in the building. Any technology other than IP-based solutions therefore could not be considered. The university finally went with a number of fixed and some WiFi mobile cameras, which utilized object and perimeter protection.

VCA Features for Object and Perimeter Protection
Regarding functionality demands from customers could be extremely diverse while making use of the newest technologies. At the Corvinus University in Budapest cameras are looking for suspicious individuals and objects selected to be monitored by digital detectors. At the Italian Institute in Belgrade, for instance, an Intellio system is guarding the safety of art treasures using the intelligent “Stolen Object” detector. The system instantly sounds an alarm if somebody covers or tries to move a protected object.

There could be instances where the safety of passengers is of utmost importance. Using perimeter protection accidents involving somebody jumping or falling on train tracks is preventable. The same feature can send out an alert if an unauthorized individual enters a restricted area.

The following features are included in Intellio’s Building and Perimeter Protection system by default: stolen and abandoned object detection, intrusion detection, forming crowd detection, stopping or parking in a restricted area, sabotage detection, object counter, people counter, speedometer, and average speed measurement.
